Lily Allen Cancels Gigs, Swears She’s Really Sick

Before Amy Winehouse was the exhausted gig-canceling British pop star du jour, there was Lily Allen, the British pop star who became famous for bailing on gigs and providing dubious excuses. Allen has just announced via her MySpace blog that she’s once again canceling a handful of shows — because she’s contracted sinusitis and strep throat. But this time around Allen is defending herself against any skeptical fans by posting this photo of her and her doctor’s note (her over-sharing on the Web may even be paying off: The BBC has reportedly been talking to Allen about a TV show). You may remember Brandon Flowers pulled a similar stunt in May, when he walked off a Colorado stage mid-set due to a throat injury and had a doctor come out to explain that he’d do permanent damage to his vocal cords by finishing the show. Okay, guys, we believe you.
